Apply for Financial Aid

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The first step to applying for Federal Student Aid is completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application can be found at fafsa.gov and opens on October 1 for the following academic year. You must include DSLCC (school code: 004996)  on your application in order for the Financial Aid office to receive your information.  Applications must be submitted annually, and we strongly suggest you complete your FAFSA on October 1 or soon thereafter. FAFSAs may be submitted as late as June 30 the following year, however, you may not receive optimal offer amounts. Please be sure to complete your FAFSA, To Do List items, and verify that you have sufficient funding before the last day payments are due (see Academic Calendar). Otherwise, you may be dropped from one or more of your classes.

Have questions about the FAFSA application?  Benefits Data Trust, in partnership with College Board, is offering a free chatbot service to help answer your questions regarding the FAFSA application.  This service is available as a free service to students from April through September 2020 in response to the recent pandemic.  Get more information and instructions on the website.
