Electrical Level 1 is the first in a series of four levels of training designed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and complies with DOL time-based standards for apprenticeship.
Get your first year of training through a combination of online exercises and live classroom/lab training on the DSLCC Clifton Forge Campus. This hybrid class provides you with skills in the following areas:
- Orientation to the Electrical Trade
- Electrical Safety
- Introduction to Electrical Circuits
- Electrical Theory
- Introduction to the National Electrical Code
- Device Boxes
- Raceways & Fittings
- Conductors and Cables
- Basic Electrical Construction Drawings
- Residential Electrical Services
- Electrical Test Equipment.
Textbooks, online access code, and all materials are included in the cost of the class.
Trainee Requirement Details
Coursework includes 60 hours of classroom/lab training and 60 hours of online homework and activities. Eighth-grade competence in reading and mathematics is recommended. Students must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in NCCER Core Curriculum.
