Students wishing to graduate with a degree, certificate, or career studies certificate are required to complete an online Application for Graduation by the deadline for the semester in which they wish to graduate.
While graduation occurs at the end of each semester, DSLCC’s commencement ceremony is only held in the spring. Students who are eligible to graduate in the spring, as well as those students who graduated during the previous summer and fall semesters, are encouraged to participate in commencement.
Students within five credit hours of completing their program requirements at the end of the spring semester may participate in DSLCC’s commencement ceremony, providing they are enrolled in the necessary coursework to complete their degree or certificate requirements in the subsequent summer term.

No exceptions will be made to this policy.

Students can apply to graduate in the fall, spring, and summer during the time periods listed below:

FALL December graduation – submit application between 10/2 and 10/30
SPRING May graduation – submit application between 11/6 and 1/25
SUMMER August graduation – submit application between 4/20 and 6/6

Graduation Workshops

The College provides workshops each semester to help students prepare for graduation and ensure that all requirements are met. Workshops are held at both the Clifton Forge campus and the Rockbridge Regional Center.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend one workshop during the semester in which they wish to graduate. Dates, times, and locations of all workshops will be emailed to the student body at the beginning of each academic year.
