Purpose

The Introductory Health Care Career Studies Certificate includes courses that cover basic topics important for those who plan to enter the field of health care.   Students who complete this program will have an introduction to first aid and safety, medical terminology, nutrition and the use of drugs. The six-credit Health Care Technician sequence prepares students to become certified as nurse aides.  Students whose placement test scores show the need to increase levels of proficiency in reading, writing and/or mathematics will be required to enroll in developmental courses so that they are more likely to achieve success in the Introductory Health Care Career Studies Certificate courses.
