Purpose

The Welding Certificate is designed to give a student a broader spectrum of welding skills than the Career Studies Certificate (CSC).  This certificate includes the skills in the CSC, but has an additional emphasis on advanced SMAW (stick welding and pipe welding).  The certificate better prepares the student for structural and maintenance welding.

The Welding Certificate is intended to:

1.   Provide a mechanism for quick responses to business and industry for short-term education and training
2.   Provide a mechanism to meet employer needs for customized program design
3.   Provide a framework for students to be able to complement training and experience with formal education
