Municipal Employees Scholarship

In accordance with the DSLCC Educational Foundation's mission to help area residents "Build Futures...Build Lives...Build Hope, Dr. John Grimes established the Municipal Employees Scholarship as a way to honor and express his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the employees of the Town of Clifton Forge and their families.  The scholarship is available for residents of Alleghany County who are employees or dependents of employees of the Town of Clifton Forge.  It will assist with tuition expenses at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Be an employee or dependent of an employee of the Town of Clifton Forge

  2. Be a resident of Alleghany County or the Town of Clifton Forge at the time of application

  3. If a Town employee, possess a high school diploma or GED certificate; if a soon-to-graduate high school student, have a 2.25 or higher GPA

  4. Be enrolled in at least one class at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College during the semester the scholarship is in force.

    Include a short essay on your career goals (where do you see yourself in five years)?

  5. Include one letter of recommendation (letters from family members are not acceptable).

  6. Include official high school transcript of grades or a copy of GED Certificate.

 

YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLICATION, ALONG WITH YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT,ESSAY, ONE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION, AND A SIGNED INFORMATION RELEASE FORM (OTHER THAN FAMILY MEMBERS) ARE RECEIVED BY THE FOUNDATION OFFICE NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 2, FOR THE FALL 2012 SEMESTER.  YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE PRINTED AND DELIVERED IN PERSON OR MAILED TO THE ADDRESS BELOW.
