Raising money for non-profit organizations is the topic of a course being offered this fall at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College with DSLCC President Dr. John Rainone as the instructor. “Fundraising and Development” is part of the Career Studies Certificate program in Arts Management.

The 3-credit course will take a step-by-step approach to securing the resources necessary for the operation and future growth of any non-profit organization. Dr. Rainone has extensive experience in fund-raising for educational and cultural organizations, as well as guiding development plans for a variety of community service groups and non-profit organizations.

The class begins on August 22 and is offered in a hybrid format with five (5) class meetings on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on August 29, September 26, October 24, November 28, and December 12.  The remaining requirements will be completed online through the college’s learning management system.  The class will also be offered through compressed video connecting the main campus in Clifton Forge and the Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista.

Eligible residents of Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas, Mercer and Summers counties may enroll in DSLCC at Virginia in-state tuition rates.  Call (540) 863-2820 to make an appointment with an academic advisor, complete an application for admission, file for financial assistance, and plan your schedule for the Fall Semester.
