DSLCC poetry contest winners

Poetry winnersThe winners of the first annual Poetry Contest at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College were recognized during a reception at the DSLCC library April 22. The contest was sponsored by the DSLCC Writing Center in honor of National Poetry Month. From left: James Robinson of Clifton Forge, first place; Taylor Goodwin of Natural Bridge, second place; Blair Thomas of Raphine, third place; and Samantha Hale, lead tutor for the Writing Center. Poetry contest winners announced

On behalf of the judges and facilitators of the 2014 National Poetry Month Contest at Dabney S Lancaster Community college, we are pleased to announce the winners of the DSLCC Poetry Contest!

1st Place: “Gaia” — Written by James Robinson
2nd Place: “Intent” — Written by Taylor Goodwin
3rd Place: “Lasting Ride in the Country” — Written by Blair R Thomas
Honorable Mention: “Fixing Me” — Written by Brandon George

Congratulations to each and every one of our writers, and thank you all so much for sharing your lovely works with us! All are welcome to attend the National Poetry Month Celebration and Reading on Tuesday, April 22nd at 2:00 pm at the DSLCC Library. Our winners will be honored with gift baskets, certificates of award, and a reading of their poem, if they choose. All will be welcome to share their poems during this celebration. Light refreshments will be served.
