The Inauguration of Dr. John Rainone
John J. Rainone, Ed.D.
President, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College
Dr. John J. Rainone became the fourth president of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College on July 8, 2013. In this role, he is responsible for the overall leadership of the college — which serves more than 2,700 students each year across an 1,800-square-mile service area.
Dr. Rainone has more than 25 years of community college administrative experience. At York County Community College in Wells, Maine, he was dean of institutional advancement, interim chief financial officer and administration in 2004; interim dean of academic programs in 1999; dean of professional development and business services, and assistant dean of continuing education. Dr. Rainone served as assistant dean of community education and workforce development at New Hampshire Technical College. His teaching experience includes 26 years of service as an adjunct faculty member at Manchester Community College, Southern New Hampshire University Graduate School, and York County Community College.
Dr. Rainone earned a doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Higher Education Leadership, a master's degree in Business Education and bachelor’s degree in business communications from Southern New Hampshire University. He is an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and is also a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), the internationally-recognized professional credential for philanthropic fundraising executives.
In 2010, Dr. Rainone received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from Southern New Hampshire University. He has served as National President of the Council for Resource Development (CRD), a 1,700 member affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), serving community college resource professionals, presidents, and trustees. Currently, Dr. Rainone serves on the AACC Commission for Communications and Marketing, and has judged at the Community College Futures Assembly for the prestigious Bellwether Awards.
