General Information

This program will provide individuals with knowledge and skills to enter technical support positions related to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It is important for those technicians to have an understanding of how electrical, electronic, mechanical, and computer technologies are used and integrated into systems that work efficiently and consistently perform with little downtime.

The DSLCC program covers fundamentals, energy management, basic of control systems, and safety. Students will be prepared to earn industry certifications and government credentials.

Employment Outlook

The outlook for HVACR technicians is very good, as growth is expected to be better than average. It is important to complete training for securing the best jobs as newer systems are more and more complex. In 2012, median pay was $43,640, with the top 10 percent earning over $68,900.
