Clayton Burch, Learner Engagement Specialist
Clayton is one of the Center’s three personal academic advisors. He meets with students on an individual basis to discuss each student’s Individual Academic Plan and transfers each student’s learning style into adaptive strategies for learning. Clayton provides students with academic advising and registration; students consult with Clayton about their program of study, enrollment, and registration. Ask for advice!

Nancy Mathias, Academic Skills Specialist
Nancy provides Support Instruction in small groups of students. She specializes in math 02, medical terminology, reviewing research papers and general English courses.
When you graduate from DSLCC, she will sing the Alma Mater, which she also wrote!

Meghan Sorrels, Learning Strategies Tutor 1

Michael Ayers, Learning Strategies Tutor 2
Michael provides Support Instruction in small groups of students. He specializes in the math and science areas of study. Michael provides extra practice in math with “portaportal” online: each chapter in the math texts has an accompanying practice set. Check it out! Michael serves as the Research Officer for Student Support Services; assisting the Director with data collection and analysis.

Sandra K. Smock, Program Director
Dr. Smock’s door is always open. Students should drop in at any time: ask a question, discuss issues affecting your academic success, consult about your class schedules and enrollment, or simply say “hi”!
