Dr. Sandra Smock, Program Director

Dr. Smock is a graduate of Ball State University with a B.S. in Sociology, the University of Georgia with a M.A. in Early Childhood Education and the University of Virginia with a Doctorate in Educational Administration.  Prior to coming to DSLCC, Dr. Smock taught a variety of courses at a rural community college in Maryland, literacy and job skills to young adults, and served as the Director of Community Services at a human service agency managing seven federal and state programs serving income-eligible populations.

Dr. Sandra Smock, Program Director

Carol Corson
Student Development Advisor (SDA)

Carol is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics (Human Environmental Science). She has worked in Student Support Services for seven years. As an SDA, she is responsible for academic advising/registration, disability services, transfer trips, and serving as webmaster for Student Support Services.

Vicki Williamson
Learner Engagement Specialist (LES)

Vicki earned an A.A.S. degree in Administrative Support Technology from DSLCC where she graduated Magnum Cum Laude and was recognized in Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges; she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  Vicki joined the Student Support Services (SSS) staff in 1996 as Administrative Assistant and was promoted to LES.  She and Clayton provide advocacy to students regarding academic and financial advice, course registration and encouragement for students to take advantage of the opportunities offered through the Achievement Center for the students' academic success.

Clayton Burch

Learner Engagement Specialist (LES)

Clayton earned an A.A.S degree in Administration of Justice from DSLCC where he was an active TRIO SSS student who received the Gary Lee Miller Outstanding Graduate Award. He is pursuing his B.A. in Human Services from Mary Baldwin College. As an LES, he and Vicki engage students in the many opportunities of The Achievement Center including Review Groups and Transfer Exploration Trips. Clayton is also active in the community as a mentor for young boys.

Nancy Mathias

Learning Strategy Support Specialist (LSSS)

Nancy is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education.  Prior to coming to DSLCC, she taught school for Covington City.  As an LSSS, Nancy provides support instruction to students both individually and in small groups in English and selected health courses. She wrote the words to the DSLCC Alma Mater entitled "Circled by Mountains".

Learning Strategies Support Specialist (LSSS)

Peggy is a graduate of Pacific Oaks College with a B.A. in Human Development. Peggy began at DSLCC in August 2002 directing the Single Parent Program. Soon after, she came into Student Support Services as a Paraprofessional Tutor.  Peggy has served as adjunct faculty with DSLCC teaching courses in Early Childhood Education, Health, Child Care and Nutrition.
