Join Steve Coiner of Lexington in this eight-week introductory course to floral arranging. Students will learn principles of artistic design, materials used in arranging, flower preparation, and the many styles of arrangements. Student will learn techniques used in making centerpieces, wreaths, swags, cake tops, sprays, and many others, as well as how to make arrangements for all sorts of occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, holidays, or “just because”.
Coiner is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in art. He has had many years of experience with arranging flowers, working with various florists in the area. He learned most of his craft from his mother, Katie Coiner, who is an accredited instructor of floral design. “I want people to have a basic understanding and appreciation of flower arranging, and good hands-on knowledge of the techniques using materials and supplies,” says Coiner.
*Students should bring $50 to the first class so that live and silk flowers may be purchased. Also, students will receive a list of other supplies that they may purchase on their own.
