Understanding Adobe Photoshop LightRoom:4 Input, Process, & Output
If you have more than a few digital images, and if you’re adding more each year, Lightroom should be the first software that you use. Lightroom 4 is an image editing program from Adobe Systems that was designed by and for photographers. It incorporates a digital workflow that provides powerful tools to let you manage your images (file management); process them in an intuitive way to enhance and make basic corrections for a variety of problems; and then output or share them easily and quickly in a wide variety of platforms, from prints to social media to slide shows and web pages. Lightroom is not a replacement for Photoshop or Elements, rather it’s a new tool that works with the image editors to make editing a much quicker and easier process so that you can get out and shoot more. Most importantly, Lightroom is a powerful image management system that will help you find that one image out of 10,000 that you took of the kids 10 years ago. It’s the one tool that most professional photographers and serious amateurs have adopted wholeheartedly into their digital workflow. If you need to make complicated selections, interesting composites made up of multiple images, or add text to your images, then consider adding Photoshop Elements to your bag of tools; otherwise, Lightroom should be your first stop in your digital workflow. With Chuck Almarez of Fire and Light Gallery.

Solar Energy Is Not a Dream!
Solar energy has really arrived, and it's one of the best investments you can make for your home or business. Equipment costs have dropped to such a degree that ROI is now only about ten years. This means that in ten years you'll have recovered the entire cost of your solar installation through reduced utility bills, and every sunbeam you collect from there on is free energy, reducing your dependency on the grid and slashing, or even eliminating your utility bill altogether. This course will equip you with the knowledge you need to make intelligent choices. Buy the equipment and do it yourself, or interview and hire a qualified contractor to install it for you. Either way, you will be able to make educated, informed decisions and wind up with a state-of-the-art solar energy system. Doug Jones is an instructor in the Wind Turbine Service Technician program at DSLCC. Participants will also be asked to purchase an accompanying book, which will be available at the RRC the first night of class.
