Real Estate Principles

Online Pre-Licensing Real Estate Course

Online Virtual Classroom

Tuition: $325, plus cost of books, $75

This sixty-hour, internet course prepares the student to sit for the Virginia Real Estate Examination for a Salesperson. The Commonwealth of Virginia requires a student to complete - with a passing grade - an approved sixty-hour course titled “The Principles of Real Estate.” This online class not only allows the student to fulfill the sixty-hour requirement, but also prepares the student to sit for the exam. The course runs for six weeks. Enrollment is flexible – a student can start the class at any time. Students who complete the course can also take an additional test and review course at no extra charge. This course is recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, Real Estate Board.

Required Textbooks: Modern Real Estate Practices, 16th Edition, by Gality, Allaway, and Kyle; and Virginia Real Estate: Practice and Law, 6th Edition, by Doris Barrell. (Textbooks are available in the DSLCC Bookstore for a total of $75.)

Instructor Bill Sherrill has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Economics (provided by a scholarship from the Society of Real Estate Appraisers). He has been a real estate broker in Virginia and North Carolina for over 20 years, and owns a real estate brokerage firm in Hampton Roads. Mr. Sherrill has 30 years of experience teaching real estate, accounting and economics. He has taught at Old Dominion University, Colorado State University, Eastern Shore Community College and Tidewater Community College. He currently teaches Economics, and online Real Estate and Accounting courses. He specializes in producing online courses.

Who Should Attend: Those who need to meet the 60-hour course requirement to sit for the Virginia Real Estate Exam. Below are highlights of the course content:
