Online Courses for Writers

 

All you need for these three online courses is a computer and access to the Internet! With these three courses specially designed for writers by instructor Beverly Schulz of Learn OnLine, students may begin the course at any time and work at their own pace in the privacy of their own home. Students will receive an orientation letter as soon as they register with DSLCC. Get Organized—Just for Writers

As freelance writers it's easy to be overwhelmed with great ideas, distracted when trying to write, and disorganized to the point of getting very little accomplished. This class will give you the tools to develop a personalized, flexible routine to keep all your writing projects on track and moving toward completion.

You'll learn how to make the best use of even a little bit of time each week, expand your research to include multiple projects, keep track of queries and rejections, log expenses and tax deductions, take advantage of seasonal opportunities, and complete your own personal goals as a writer. Whether you are writing novels, magazine articles, screenplays, or anything else, you'll find this system of organization works! (No text)

Write and Sell the Short Stuff

Learn how to break into the magazine market with fillers, anecdotes, editorials, essays, humor, children's writing, restaurant reviews, tips and more. Discussion will include market research, queries v. direct submissions, turning short works into longer pieces and writers' resources.

Introduction to Travel Writing

Travel writing is fun and easy! This class will include insight on the types of travel writing that sell, how to submit your work to magazines and newspapers, where to find open markets and resources for travel writers.
