Have you wanted to learn word processing in a relaxed environment? Here’s your chance! This 7-week class will be self-paced and project-based. Projects are fun and are designed to meet your personal needs and for volunteer work that you might do. They include learning to format letters, envelopes, flyers, multi-page documents, and tables. Ability to keyboard is helpful but not essential. You should have prior computer knowledge (how to use a mouse and drop-down menus, save a file, and a few other basic skills, which can be acquired in the Introduction to Computers course, also taught by Sandy Peters). The textbook, Welcome to Microsoft Word 2003, is available in the DSLCC bookstore .

Ed Mays
Generating professional-looking letters, envelopes, and flyers, using mail merge features, and performing desktop publishing are essential skills needed in today’s business world. This seven-week word processing course will enable you to accomplish these tasks proficiently by providing practical, hands-on projects similar to what you would complete in the present-day business office. Students enrolled in this course should possess basic computer skills such as how to use a mouse and keyboard, open and save a document, and be somewhat familiar with the Windows environment. For students who have taken the Introduction to Computers I and II courses taught by Ed Mays, this class will provide a great transition to the next level of word processing. The textbook, Welcome to Microsoft Word 2003, will be used during this course and can be purchased at the Rockbridge Regional Center.
To register or for more information, please contact Judy Clark, Non-Credit Coordinator, at (540) 863-2863 or email jclark@dslcc.edu. Or call the Rockbridge Center at (540) 463-6673.
