Life and Times of Robert E. Lee

In honor of Lee's 200th Birthday!

Wednesdays, February 7 - April 25

(no class Feb. 21 or March 7)

6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Room 913, DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center, Lexington

Tuition: $150

Course #: HIST 1100-91

Instructor: David Cox

In honor of Lee’s 200th birthday, join instructor David Cox in this ten-week exploration of one of Lexington’s most famous and beloved residents. Though not a typical American, Lee is one of the more interesting figures of the 19th century. This non-credit course will look at his life and at the issues and developments that shaped this critical, eventful era (1807-1870). Lectures, conversation and a field trip to local Lee sites are included.

For 20 years, Dr. Cox has “lived” with Lee, first as rector of the Episcopal Church named for Lee (R.E. Lee Memorial Church in Lexington) and more recently, in writing a book on what Lee believed.

For more information, or to register, please contact Judy Clark, Non-Credit Coordinator, at (540) 863-2863 or email jclark@dslcc.edu. Toll free: 877- 73DSLCC, ext. 2863.
