DSLCC--Your Workforce Development Resource

Advanced Manufacturing &
Packaging Technology

Providing Advanced Manufacturing and Packaging Technology (AMPT) Training through coursework and lab practice in the Virginia Packaging Applications Center (VAPAC) DSLCC provides comprehensive manufacturing training programs and services with YOU, the employer, in mind.

We offer:

  • Instructional materials, software and equipment integrated into a total skills-based program

  • Instruction to address various learning styles through interactive media to supplement print-based materials
  • Reports generated to document skill mastery (individual and class)
  • Skills and objectives for each course are customized to meet the needs of your organization
  • On-line learning is offered for your employees, with options to add lab practice and/or documentation of skills for assessments, resume building or industry certifications

DSLCC provides a program of study that equips manufacturing personnel with a broad range of today's most-wanted skills.  Individuals completing courses will have a strong resume built upon traditional classroom instruction coupled with experiential learning--that gained on the plant floor of industry and hands-on practice available on equipment in the Virginia Packaging Applications Center (VAPAC) on the main campus in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

The Advanced Manufacturing and Packaging Technology (AMPT) curriculum provides education and training in the skills sets fundamental to all manufacturing. Graduates will find that they are not only prepared for initial employment but also have the skills sets required for advancement. Employers will have access to employees ready for any plant floor assignment.

Furthermore, the College will strive to connect people and businesses to job opportunities and job training across the region and beyond.  DSLCC seeks to be a one-stop center for companies committed to the goal of maintaining and enhancing company productivity, firmly believing that reaching that goal is best achieved by having the best-trained employees possible
.

The AMPT program is established on the basis of Integrated Systems Technology.  Modern manufacturing is very dynamic.  The final product depends upon electrical, mechanical and digital systems which, in turn, are integrated with other areas, such as ergonomics, robotics, machine technology, and packaging and distribution.  Factoring in quality control issues, legal considerations, and fiercely competitive global markets, it is clear that companies face many challenges
.

DSLCC is committed to meeting the needs of modern employers through development of the workforce, customized programs and services to meet all needs--from pre-employment training to advanced skills training and certifications for incumbent workers.  Employers who are currently engaged in advanced manufacturing enterprises will find a responsive partner in DSLCC.
