MeadWestvaco Pre-Employment Training
To be considered for production employment with MeadWestvaco, it is necessary for candidates to complete a Pre-Employment Training Class (PETC) offered at DSLCC. Individuals must first meet the prerequisites established for the class through placement testing or previous completion of appropriate course work.
The PETC covers information relevant to the papermaking process and working in an industrial environment. There is no cost to participants to take this class.
Individuals who successfully complete the PETC will be awarded three college credits and may be referred to the Virginia Employment Commission for registration. The VEC will forward candidate information to MeadWestvaco for consideration in the employee selection process.
Those interested in the program should contact Robin Jennings at DSLCC at 540-863-2899 for detailed instructions or email rjennings@dslcc.edu .
Classes may be found under the “Pulp and Paper Technology” (PPT) section of the schedule, in print or on line.
