NAMED GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

 

Named EndoJack and Mitizi Hammond endowed the Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hammond, Sr. Faculty International Development Grantwment Opportunities: An endowment in memory or in honor of an individual may be established with a tax-deductible gift. The donor may designate the purpose as well as the name of the fund and may set the eligibility criteria for the award. Endowment funds may be created for scholarships, technology and equipment and/or professional development grants to assist faculty as they seek to enhance and broaden their expertise through educational experiences.

Endowments are an essential resource of every successful instituiton of higher education.  An investment in DSLCC's endowment program is held in perpetuity and only the income generated by the principle of the endowment is expended.  Donors are encouraged to create named endowments that satisfy specific needs of the College or that are more closely aligned with their special areas of interest.


Scholarship Endowment:
Scholarships are a poweKarin Ellis endowed the T. Kenneth and Karin R. Ellis Scholarshiprful way to make a difference in the lives of others and provides the donor with the opportunity to directly impact a student's life through education. Endowment income from investments provides resources to assist talented, deserving students on the basis of financial need or academic merit. Donors may determine scholarship eligibility criteria, which can include financial need, geographic area of residence, major area of study, and/or minimum grade point average.

State-of-the-Art Equipment Endowment: Income from equipment endowments is used to purchase state-of-the art, industry-standard equipment and training models for students allowing the College to offer training on equipment similar to, if not identical to, equipment required in the workplace. This equipment also will serve as a focal point for attracting new industries with specific job skill concerns. Current areas in critical need for advanceKay Reynolds Ray Memorial Scholarship recipient & first-year nursing student, Brandi Litts, practices her skills on one of the "SIMS" in the DSLCC nursing lab. d Emily Dimon, recipient of a Ferguson-Proffit Nursing Scholarship, and Nikki Phillips, recipient of the Robert F. & Vivian N. Sutphin Nursing Scholarship, at work in Anatomy & Phisiology class. and updated technological equipment Gary Boyer, Program Head for Administration of Justice/Forensic Science, demonstrates fingerprinting techniques.

Dabney S.
