Kay Reynolds Ray Memorial Scholarship for

Non-Traditional Students

This Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for an adult who chose not to pursue a post-secondary education immediately after high school graduation, but now wishes to enroll in college to gain marketable job skills, facilitate thier career advancement or successfully change career paths.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Be an adult who did not pursue the traditional path of enrolling in post-secondary education immediately upon graduation from high school.

  2. Be a high school graduate or possess a GED Certificate

  3. Be resident of Alleghany County or the City of Covington

  4. Include with your application a short essay on your career goals--where do you see yourself in five years?

  5. Include two letters of recommendation (letters from family members are not acceptable)

  6. Include your official high school transcript or a copy of your GED Certificate


YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLICATION, ALONG WITH YOUR OFFICIAL DSLCC TRANSCRIPT, ESSAYS AND TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (OTHER THAN FAMILY MEMBERS) ARE RECEIVED BY THE FOUNDATION OFFICE NO LATER THAN Tuesday, July 15, 2008. YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE PRINTED AND DELIVERED IN PERSON OR MAILED TO THE ADDRESS BELOW.
