This Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for an adult who chose not to pursue a post-secondary education immediately after high school graduation, but now wishes to enroll in college to gain marketable job skills, facilitate thier career advancement or successfully change career paths. A minimum 2.25 GPA is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Be an adult who did not pursue the traditional path of enrolling in post-secondary education immediately upon graduation from high school
Be a high school graduate (minimum 2.25 GPA)or possess a GED
Be a resident of Alleghany County or the City of Covington and eligible for in-state tuition at the time of application
Have completed at least 25% of the credits required for the certificate or associate degree program in which you have enrolled
Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or higher
Include a short essay on your career goals (where do you see yourself in five years)?
Include two letters of recommendation (letters from family members are not acceptable).
Include official transcript of grades or a copy of GED Certificate.
